Cape Town – Julius Malema will spend Freedom Day in President Jacob Zuma’s territory when he addresses a rally in Umlazi outside Durban today.
According to the Sunday Times, security is expected to be tight around the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader and bodyguards will try to ensure that only party supporters gain access to the stadium following his hostile reception last week.
This comes after Malema and his supporters were forced to leave a meeting on Thursday at the University of KwaZulu-Natal after it was disrupted by ANC-aligned students – who booed him to his car.
On Friday, Malema boosted his security detail to eight bodyguards instead of the usual two when he visited the Durban University of Technology where he was once again booed. He was also escorted by armed policemen in riot gear.
