The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has reacted to a case of incitement to trespass against its leader, saying that AfriForum shouldn’t render the justice system useless by filing the same charges repeatedly.

The lobby group opened the case at a Pretoria police station on Tuesday.

They’re accusing Julius Malema of encouraging the illegal occupation of land belonging to white people at the party’s birthday celebrations in Durban at the weekend.

The EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said: “AfriForum is just a group of Klu Klux Klan who don’t have a life and their business is to watch the movements of the commander in chief. Everything that they’ve been saying, they’ve already said to the police, who are already on the case.”

AfriForum’s Ernst Roets says that Malema is using the contentious land issue to advance his own political agenda.

“This is a political matter but what Malema is doing is encouraging his supporters to resort to criminal activity in order to fulfil his political agenda and this is something that we should not stand for in this country.”
