JOHANNESBURG – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has pledged to donate R100 000 to help labour union Amcu in its fight for higher wages.
Miners on the North West platinum belt have been on strike since January.
They’re demanding a R12 500 basic salary for entry level workers.
EFF leader Julius Malema told his supporters he wants President Jacob Zuma to apologise for the Marikana massacre.
“For as long as Zuma and his government don’t take responsibility for the killing of our people, we don’t wish him well. We wish him long suffering. We wish him long pain. Because he has never apologised for the killing of our people at Marikana,” Malema said.
Meanwhile, Parties to the platinum wage negotiations have remained mum about progress.
If the settlement is signed it would end the five-month long strike.
