AfriForum plans to go abroad and warn ‘investors’ against land expropriation

The Afrikaans rights lobby group will be heading overseas in a campaign to ‘warn’ certain people about land expropriation without compensation.
AfriForum plans to announce what they call new information on land ownership as well as a memorandum on expropriation of land without compensation that they will take abroad and present to “investors”.

The group hosted a briefing in Centurion on Tuesday to outline a campaign the lobby group planned to launch in the coming week, intended to warn international investors against land expropriation without compensation.

Deputy CEO Ernst Roets said they would send a senior delegation to the United States, kicking off the international campaign against land expropriation without compensation.

The lobby group said they would provide a report on new information on land ownership in South Africa.

Roets said the Afrikaans lobby group was driven by the pursuit of truth. “Today [we] will publish the memorandum that we will use as a basis for our international campaign against land expropriation. We will also release new data on land ownership in South Africa.”

The group believes the motion to expropriate property without compensation is based on a flawed state-driven land audit, which is “soaked with fabrications and methodical errors”.

Their reasoning is that arguments must be made that the land expropriation policy be executed so more black people can own property, but they said it only appeared that, according to the ANC and Economic Freedom Fighters policy documents, the intention is for the government to own land and not private individuals.
